Welcome to PickleballRelish.com! I learned from someone that we learn from each other 🙂 About a year ago I asked my accountant, Bill how his tennis game was going (Bill is an accomplished tennis player with a great many 1st. place trophies on display in his office to attest to that fact.) His response was shocking: he was no longer playing tennis. Injuries had mounted AND Bill had found a new sport- Pickleball. He asked me if I had played the game. At this point, I was scratching my head (Bill is no longer playing tennis? What in the world is Pickleball?). I had no idea the game existed and that it has been around since the ’60’s, that it was similar to tennis, badminton and ping pong and that it was being played by so many people. He invited me to play and meet a great group of people that were playing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Matt Jimenez Community Center here in town-Hayward, CA. I took his advice and went down on the following Tuesday. I became instantly attracted/addicted to the game. Playing tennis myself for decades and multiple injuries, as a result, I was on a quest to find an activity that included exercise, competition and most importantly- positive social dynamics. I had found Pickleball. Thank you, Bill!
More than anything else I would like Pickleball players to get to know and learn from other players. This is the main reason for PickleballRelish.com. What are your preferred indoor court shoes? Outdoor court shoes? Paddle? How do you drill to improve your third shot drop? What are your warm-up routines? How do you settle line call disputes? How do you keep track of the score? These are just a few of the inquiries we will be exploring here at PickleballRelish.com. Pickleball players of all ages and skill levels that I have met will be featured and sharing their perspectives. I welcome feedback about improving PickleballRelish.com. Please tell us what you would like.
